Strong storms that swept across Southern Illinois this evening have left 1,150 Southwestern Electric members without power. Crews have been dispatched to survey damage and make repairs. As of 9:20 p.m., more than 1,000 members in Fayette County were without service and about 75 members in Bond County were without power.

Members are cautioned to avoid all downed and low-hanging power lines. The lines may be energized, or become energized without warning.
