A potent storm marked by high winds and lightning swept across the I-70 corridor this evening, leaving about 1,275 Southwestern Electric members without power.
At 6:15 p.m., 1,160 Madison County members were without power, while 100 members in Bond County had lost service. Members in Montgomery, Shelby, Macoupin and Fayette counties were also affected by the storm.
Crews were making repairs at locations throughout the co-op’s service area.
Members are cautioned to avoid downed and low-hanging lines, which may be energized or become energized at any time.
