Southwestern Electric Cooperative is taking steps to help members who’ve lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The co-op is suspending service disconnections and waiving late payment fees through May 1.
The policy applies to both residential and commercial members.
“A number of our members struggle to make ends meet from one month to the next,” noted Southwestern CEO Bobby Williams. “The coming weeks may be particularly difficult for them. We want all of our members to know they’ll have service in the weeks to come.”
Williams said Southwestern Electric would revisit its position on disconnections and late fees in April.
