11 a.m.
As of 11 a.m., about 1,500 Southwestern Electric members are without power, including 1,100 members served by the co-op’s Pocahontas Substation. The substation lost power shortly before 11 a.m. due to a transmission line failure. Ameren and Southwestern Electric operations and engineering teams are working to identify and isolate the source of the outage.
Crews continue to make repairs southeast of Mulberry Grove after a tree fell through power lines near Highway 40 earlier this morning. The outage is affecting members east of Mulberry Grove south to Hurricane Creek. Repairs are expected to be completed around 12:30 p.m.
Members who see downed or sagging power lines should stay clear of the area and contact Southwestern Electric Cooperative at (800) 637-8667. In addition, people clearing debris should look for sagging or fallen wires before they begin working and treat every powerline as if it’s energized.
