Southwestern Electric crews are making system repairs in Bond and Madison counties this afternoon.
This morning, nine Southwestern Electric members in Bond County remained without power due to damage inflicted by this week’s winter storm. Ice combined with strong, sustained winds created galloping lines in northern Bond County. The galloping lines repeatedly snapped crossarms and brought down power lines, preventing final repairs until today. Crews restored power to those members this morning and continue to make system repairs in the area.
In southern Bond County, Ameren repair work resulted in an outage that affected about 70 members from Dudleyville Road south to Emerald Road in Clinton County, and from Millersburg Road east to Carlyle Lake. Ameren crews repaired the fault and Southwestern Electric linemen quickly restored power.
Presently, crews are on site in Madison County repairing broken crossarms.
Members who see downed or sagging power lines should stay clear of the area and contact Southwestern Electric Cooperative at (800) 637-8667. In addition, people clearing debris should look for sagging or fallen wires before they begin working.
