With the National Weather Service in St. Louis issuing a winter storm watch for this weekend, including the possibility for between five and 10 inches of snowfall, Southwestern Electric operations and engineering personnel are prepared for what may be a busy few days for Southern and Central Illinois utility crews.
Weighty snow accumulation can bring down branches and trees, and even snap power lines and utility poles. Please be alert for sagging or fallen lines and treat every power line as if it’s energized.
Members who see downed or sagging power lines should stay clear of the area and contact Southwestern Electric Cooperative at (800) 637-8667.
