Southwestern Crews Restore Power to Edwardsville Area Members
Thursday, March 14, 2019

2 p.m.

Southwestern Electric crews have restored power to 950 Edwardsville area members who lost service late this morning after high winds dropped a tree through power lines, damaging poles and breakers.

As of 2 p.m., about 50 co-op members were without service.

Southwestern crews have been responding to scattered outages in several counties as high winds pummel Missouri and Illinois, bringing down trees and moving limbs into power lines. At 12:15 p.m., about 1,130 members were without power.

A high wind warning issued by the National Weather Service this morning forecast sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 60 mph. Winds of this magnitude are likely to drop trees into rights-of-way, break utility poles and bring down power lines.

Members are cautioned to avoid downed and low-hanging lines, as they be energized or become energized at any time.
