    As of 11 p.m., crews had restored service to 430 members who lost power after a storm brought strong winds and lightning to Southwestern Illinois. More than 700 members lost power due to the storm.

    More than 625 Southwestern Electric members are without power this evening after a storm brought high winds and lightning to the cooperative's service area. Members in Madison, Fayette and Clinton counties are affected by the outages. Linemen are currently in the field, and operations and engineering personnel are coordinating repair efforts.
  • Bond County Linemen Assisting Madison County Crews Friday, May 19, 2017
    About 200 Madison County members are without power this morning after a powerful thunderstorm brought down trees, broke poles and power lines, and tripped breakers throughout the county. Bond County crews have been deployed to assist Madison County linemen with repairs.
  • Crews Working to Restore Power to 180 Madison County Members Friday, May 19, 2017
    Southwestern linemen are working to restore power to about 180 Madison County members this morning. The first outages were reported at 5:45 a.m., as thunderstorms passed through the area tripping breakers and dropping trees into lines. As of 7:15 a.m., most of the outages were along Seiler Road, with higher concentrations along Highway 159, Prairietown Road, and Old Moro Road.

    Ameren crews have restored power to a transmission line which serves Southwestern Electric’s Wrights and Edgewood Substations. The substations provide power to members in Effingham, Fayette, and Marion counties.
  • 1,000 Lose Power due to Ameren Transmission Issue Saturday, April 29, 2017
    A total of 1,000 members in Effingham and Fayette counties lost power at 6:00 p.m. due to a problem with the Ameren Illinois transmission line that feeds Southwestern Electric's Wrights and Edgewood substations. Ameren crews are working to resolve the issue.
  • Agricultural Accident Interrupts Power to 600 Members Tuesday, April 18, 2017
    An agricultural accident Monday morning interrupted power to about 600 Southwestern Electric members in Madison County. A farmer working a field near Prairietown Road struck and broke a guy wire, which came into contact with cooperative distribution and transmission lines, tripping breakers at Holiday Shores East Substation.

    AT&T technicians have restored phone service to Southwestern Electric Cooperative. The cooperative's phone system came on line shortly after 2 p.m.

    A nationwide AT&T telecommunications issue has disrupted phone service to Southwestern Electric Cooperative this morning. AT&T technicians are working to resolve the issue.
