    Membership growth, energy efficiency and the potential for electric vehicles to serve rural America while buoying power sales were the marquee messages delivered during Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s 81st Annual Meeting of Members, held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Greenville Junior High School in Greenville, Ill.

    Thunderstorms moving through the region this morning are interrupting service to Southwestern Electric members. Southwestern Electric line crews have been dispatched to make repairs.
  • Crews Working to Restore Power in Fayette County Tuesday, August 13, 2019
    Southwestern line crews are working to restore power this evening to about 500 Fayette County members who lost service shortly before 7 p.m. Crews are working to isolate the source of the outage and expect to restore power later this evening.

    Southwestern crews are responding to storm-related outages at several locations in the co-op’s service area this morning. Members are cautioned to avoid all downed and low-hanging power lines, as they may be energized or become energized at any time. Members should also avoid driving through flood water.

  • Ameren Transmission Line Fault Interrupts Service to 2,900 Southwestern Members Tuesday, July 16, 2019
    At 10 a.m., an Ameren transmission line fault interrupted power to three Southwestern Electric substations in Madison County. Members served by Southwestern’s Edwardsville, St. Jacob and Fruit Road Substations are affected by the outage. In total, about 2,900 members are currently without power.
  • Ameren Equipment Issue Interrupts Power to 600 Southwestern Members Friday, July 5, 2019
    An Ameren equipment failure this morning resulted in 600 Southwestern Electric members losing power shortly before 6 a.m. The outage is affecting Bond County members from I-70 south to Keyesport Road, and from Millersburg Road east to Mulberry Grove Road.
  • Repair Requires Afternoon Outage For New Douglas Area Members Thursday, July 4, 2019
    Co-op members in the New Douglas area will experience an interruption in service this afternoon while line crews replace a damaged utility pole near Southwestern’s New Douglas Substation. The outage is expected to begin at 1 p.m., with repairs being completed and power restored by about 3 p.m.
