    About 1,070 co-op members in Effingham, Fayette and Shelby counties lost power this evening when Southwestern Electric’s Wrights Corner and Edgewood substations went offline.
  • Crews Responding to Wind-Related Outages Wednesday, June 5, 2019
    Thunderstorms and strong winds have interrupted service to about 375 Southwestern Electric members this evening. Most of the outages are concentrated in Madison County, where 240 members lost power shortly after 6 p.m.

    As of 10:30 p.m. the remaining outages in Madison County have been restored and restoration efforts continue in Fayette County.

    Southwestern Electric crews have restored service to about 70 members in Madison County and 57 members in Fayette County after thunderstorms pushed through the co-op’s service area earlier this evening.

    At around 6:45 p.m. 166 Southwestern Electric lost power in Fayette County as strong thunderstorms brought high winds and lightning through Southwestern Electric’s service territory bringing down 8 power poles fed by the co-op’s Shafter Substation North of Vandalia.
  • Outages Affect Madison, Macoupin, Montgomery, and Fayette County Members; Crews Work to Identify the Source and Make Repairs Wednesday, May 29, 2019
    243 Southwestern Electric members in Madison, Macoupin, Montgomery, and Fayette counties lost power at around 6:45 p.m. Line crews are working to identify the sources of the outages and are making repairs.
  • Outage Affects St. Jacob Area Members; Crews Making Repairs Friday, May 24, 2019
    About 200 Southwestern Electric members west of St. Jacob lost power at 2:10 p.m. Operations and engineering personnel have identified the source of the outage and are making repairs. The outage is affecting members near Route 4, between Route 143 and Lilac Road.
  • Power Restored in Fayette County Thursday, May 23, 2019
    The power outage affecting 1,200 Southwestern Electric members in Fayette County this morning was sourced to an Ameren transmission line fault. At about 10:20 a.m., a tree fell into the line, interrupting power to Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s Sefton and Confidence substations.
  • 1,200 Fayette County Members Without Power Thursday, May 23, 2019
    Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s Sefton and Confidence substations went offline at 10:20 a.m. The outage is affecting members in an area that extends from Herrick south to St. Peter, and from Vandalia east to St. Elmo. Southwestern Electric and Ameren crews are patrolling lines to identify the source of the outage. No estimated time of restoration is currently available.
  • Southwestern Crews Restore Power to More Than 900 Members Thursday, May 23, 2019
    Southwestern Electric crews have restored service to more than 900 members this morning after a line of strong thunderstorms pushed through the co-op’s service area shortly before 4 a.m., bringing lightning and high winds to bear on hardware, poles and powerlines.
